Andrew Flintoff has said that England is still not playing at its best and he would like to see improvement from the English boys in the remaining 3 matches of the ongoing Ashes series.
England has won the first two Ashes test matches and they are on the verge of winning the Ashes series for the third time in a row.
But, Flintoff is not satisfied with England’s outing so far. He reckons that the Poms are still not performing up to their abilities.
Talking to the reporters a couple of days back, Flintoff said, “Currently, we are up against a side which is not that good. So, I have no doubt in my mind that we will keep dominating, but, I don’t think we have played up to our potential. We could have performed better than this. I hope that we put up improved performances in the rest of the matches.”
When asked about the performance of James Anderson who had had a 10-wicket haul in the first test match at Nottingham, Flintoff said, “Jimmy has been superb. He has matured a lot in the last 3-4 years. It’s so nice to see him reaching milestones. I am sure playing at his home ground will motivate him to do even better.”
When asked about test cricket coming back to his home ground Old Trafford after a gap of 3 years, Flintoff said, “It’s wonderful that Old Trafford is going to host a test match again. Not too many test matches have been played here in the last few years. It’s good that we have got an Ashes test match.”
The last time that the English team had played a test match at Old Trafford was in June 2010 against Bangladesh.
