Pakistani Cricketer Mustafa Bashir escaped wife battery jail time after he claimed he was joining a top cricket outfit, The Sunreports.

The player and his legal reps claimed the 34-year old had been offered a deal by cricket club Leicestershire just before his arrest.

It was this claims that helped him escaped getting jailed but there are reports that the claims could have been false. The Sun report says the LeicestershireCounty Cricket Club did not ever hold talks with the player regarding a possible deal, not to talk of offering him a deal.

Bashir repeatedly hit his woman FakharaKarim, 33, for her life choices. He claimed she was now wearing westernized clothes, turning against her family and socializing with ‘English slag girls.’

There are claims that he once said: “If I hit you with this bat with my full power then you would be dead.” There are even claims that he eventually hit her when he felt she spent too much time on the phone, speaking with friends that he did not approve of.

The Judge Richard Mansell QC also heard that he forced his wife to drink bleach when they had a row regarding him going on a cricket tour in the Netherlands.

His wife Karim claimed she was fearful for her life but she eventually took the courage to approach the police for help.

“I now feel strong enough to report this to the police. I did fear from my life, he told me he was going to kill me,” she said. (more…)

Chennai Super Kings always play the same way

The Chennai Super Kings always play the same way irrespective of the fact that they win or lose.

After the failure of their batting the other day, it was thought they would be a little circumspect in the away game versus the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but, that wasn’t the case at all.

The men in Yellow went as hard as they normally do and batting first on a placid track, posted a score in excess of 180 which turned out to be match winning one at the end.

This is one of the best qualities of the Super Kings. They don’t panic.

You see with the other teams, when they lose a couple, they very quickly try to change their game plan, their combinations and all, but, not Chennai.

The team management has got such a lot of faith in the first choice players that unless one of them gets injured, the playing XI remains the game.

And, there is a fixed role for every player in the CSK squad. It’s not that you would see the role changing.

The openers and the no. 3 attack, the middle order consolidates and then there is some muscle work again at the end.

Similarly, in bowling as well, some swinging stuff with the new ball, then the spinners come in and try and exploit the help in the pitch if there is any and then, there are change ups in the death with slower deliveries and low full tossed ones being dished out. (more…)

Phil Hughes – Demise of Best Cricketer

The opening batsman of the Australian Cricket team, Phil Hughes, is no more in this world. The young left hander died earlier today in a hospital in Sydney.

Hughes had taken a blow on his neck off the bowling of Sean Abbott while playing in a first class game the other day for South Australia. He had lost his consciousness immediately and was rushed to the hospital where he was kept in the ICU after a head surgery.

He was not responding positively to the treatment and finally this morning, he passed away leaving the entire cricketing world in shock, pain and devastation.

Hughes was batting at the score of 63 in that game and was playing well. A hundred there could have sealed his spot in the Australian squad for the first test match against India, but, that was not destined to be. He became the victim of a tragedy and left the world.

The injury that Hughes suffered was a peculiar one. He did not get hit exactly on the head.  It was more towards the neck that he took the blow. It should not have been that lethal.

According to the doctors, if Hughes had been hit a few millimetres here or there, he would have got away with just a bruise. But, because of the fact that he was hit on one of the most important arteries leading to the cerebrum, he collapsed straightaway.

This incident has shaken the players all around the world and there is no clarity if the Brisbane test match that is scheduled to take place from 4th of next month would now go on according to the schedule.

It would surely be hard for the Australian players who are close to Hughes to recover from this and play in Brisbane.
