CAPTAINCY IS QUESTIONED

MS Dhoni’s captaincy has been called in to serious question so far during his side’s tour of Australia. His Indian side has now lost 8 away Test matches in a row, and lost the opening game of the One Day series against Australia and Sri Lanka.

Alongside his questionably captaincy style, his form with the bat has also deserted him to a degree, despite spirited performances during the T20 series. Dhoni has remained adamant though that he is the best man for the job for now, and when a more suitable candidate arrives, he is more than happy to allow them to continue.

In what has been a fairly wretched last 9 months for his side, Dhoni will be hoping to regain some credibility by claiming the One Day series against Australia and Sri Lanka. It has been an incredible fall from grace for Dhoni, as he was on top of the world less than a year ago after captaining India to World Cup victory and hitting the winning runs in the final.

During the series against Australia in the Test matches, Dhoni was criticised for being far too defensive, allowing Australia very often to take the initiative away from them. His batting was also hugely disappointing, as he appeared to struggle to adjust to the conditions, as he continued to not move is feet and edge the ball into the slip area.

On his day, Dhoni can be one of the world’s most destructive batsman, so India will be desperate for their skipper to regain some form and confidence, which will not only boost India, but also the game of cricket as a whole.
