PANESAR HOPES

Monty Panesar hopes to be included in England’s playing XI for the third Ashes test match which is going to be played at Old Trafford. Panesar has been named in the 14-man squad for the Old Trafford test match along with James Taylor and Chris Tremlett.

The Sussex spinner has a fantastic record at Old Trafford. He has played 3 test matches there and has grabbed 25 wickets. His bowling average at that venue is 16 which is astonishing.

Panesar has had a 10-wicket haul as well at Old Trafford.  He had done that against the Caribbean team 6 years back in 2007.

Talking to Unibet after being included in the England squad for the third test match, Panesar said, “It’s nice to be back in the squad. I am looking forward to the game. Hopefully, I get a playing opportunity.”

“You generally get a dry wicket at Old Trafford. I hope that the grounds men produce similar sort of wicket again.”

“We are in great position in the series at the moment, but, we can’t write off Australia. They are fighters and they will try hard to pull things back.”

Panesar had a good outing with the ball playing for Sussex in the warm up match against Australia. He bowled 24.4 overs in the first innings and created a lot of problems for the Kangaroo batsmen. He gave away 70 runs and grabbed 3 wickets.

When asked about that, Panesar said, “It’s good to have some wickets under my belt going into the third test match. I just put the ball in the right areas and varied my pace.”

Panesar bowled 14 overs in the second innings too but remained wicket less. The match eventually ended in the form of a draw.
